J-power F5E Tiger


The horizontal fin needs reinforcement with epoxy as the factory does not secure enough for that small contact area.

I need to put in a refueling tube next to the cockpit as well.


The elevator control horn is realign to reduce binding of the servo rod.
The factory installation cause much binding and the servo will buzz even in neutral position.

Wonderful! That is my favorite tiger painting

Not much needed to be assembled. 10 mins job. Perfect for busy man like me.

Mr. pilot is waiting to take off.


I love this J-power's design. All compartment can be taken apart.

Air retract landing gear

Took me some time to figure out how to fit an air pump. The intake valve has a one-way valve that open up at 40-60 psi. My foot press air pump cannot tolerate the pressure and broke the piston. Need some "steel" epoxy pudding to reinforce the piston and reseal the crack with silicone glue.

Now can easily pressurize it with 7 stroke.

Align Trex 500 M2.5 1.5mm hex screw



Align made non-standard M2.5 1.5mm hex screw that stripped easily with standard tools. Even with Align driver, the hex bolt will stripped as well after several attempts.

It is strongly recommended to replace all M2.5 1.5mm hex to 2mm hex screw. 2mm hex head is much stronger and will not strip even with maximum force.

I bought 2 sets - M2.5x 10mm and M2.5 x 6mm. Replaced all important parts that neeeds disassemble often, like the main bearing block, the tail boom case, the tail gear box etc.

Align DS 510 digital servo



The align servo is made by MKS. Foreign marketed as sxxx.

The servo gears is nylon and stripped easily on crash (touch wood). The servo gear slop is significant comparing with Futaba digial servo.

Finally wait until the TT full metal version is out. Bought at $3380 and the kit takes 5 hours to assemble. 1 hour to "tune".
Some tricky part on assembly"
1) Tail pitch slider will hit the lever if travel set too much
2) Hex nut strip easy with standard driver, will change all Align screw to better one.
3) Tail heavy with 2x3s 2200mAh. 7sA123 can have best CG, but too large for stock canopy.
4) Headspeed is amazing iwth 13T. 3D right ot of box!
5) Must set the BEC to 6V to avoid low voltage BEC kicking off my Spectrum receiver. Some expert tested the Align built in BEC will drop to trough of 3.5V, which is so close to the shut down voltage of 3.3V.
6) Align DS510 digital servos get a lot of appraise and said to be better than Futaba 9650. My impression is "NO". Its slop (>10 degrees) is far more than a 9650 which hold solid. I am quite disappointed.



Maiden successful for 5 flights today. 3 packs 7s A123 hovering.
check some loosen parts, even red loctite before:
1) Seesaw center screw (well known) and the clearance form the mixing arm is <1mm.
2) Tail hub slider lever , desing with one screw only. Slight loosening results in huge slop!

Almost total my Trex 600N



Sunny day. Very fine weather. Try to start my os50 as it stayed inside the car for almost 4 weeks. Just want to run the engine for a tank.

Just disassemble the starter shaft and it slips with a loosen hex nut. Forgot to tighten the T-arm hex nut. Dissaster happened jsut after 5 mins of violent 3D and it lost control and already dropped into the sea. Luckily, all electronics are safe.

Metal parts including main hub ($180), tail box ($380) are destroyed. The frame, Torque tube are intact. Brand new Funkey blade ($430) destroyed.

Total fix cost ~$1,300 with upgrade of the new align double bearing swashplate ($240?), 600D CF blade ($380) . Also had a major overhaul with change of most bearings >100 flight (Main grip, tail grip, main shaft, seesaw, mixing arm bearings.... )

Afterburner Effect




Just got a pre-solder SMD superbright led array that cost ~ HKD60 (with 15 pcs LED, each led has 3 bright spots!) Can use with 6V->12V
Fetch an old GWS brushed ESC.

I use a GWS brushed ESC connecting the led array (sold in HK ~7.5 USD for 1 foot with 15 superbright SMD LED, each SMD LED has another 3 bright spot!). The brushed ESC connected to main battery for 12V source, and signal wire connected to receiver AUX channel, which is mixed with throttle channel. At ~5.6V output from the ESC, the led will flicker...)

FMS F35 Lightning First crash & rebuild




Mine finally crashed after a crazy low pass of 1 inch above ground. Side wind roll it and the wing touch the ground, then the chin ..... lipo is ok as it is 1 inch above ground !
































Finally done! USe some kids' soft ultralight clay. Finsih with acryllic paint. Perfect looking!

**Exit nozzle not yet reduce and result in slower peak speed.**

Peak current 42A, average 34A
