Hurricane EP550

  • Cheap and good 3D learning machine
Equipped with Trex 600 BL and ESC, 7s1p A123 battery
  • Some metals parts needed to be upgraded to avoid undetectable wear and damage. The elevator lever is easy to have damage overlooked. The rotor hub will crack at the base and have larger freeplay.
  • To change the front main gear to 61T as the 42T is easier to wear. Above is a 60T gear from model car. It gives a better clearance from the mian frame.
  • A vertical fiber slab is added at the back of the motor mount to reduce torsional distortion of the main frame, that will destroy the main shaft gear on 3D.
  • Trex 600 tail boom is added on the Hurricane. Almost same calibre but thicker and tougher.
  • You can see that the uppermost main grip mixing lever has 2 holes. The outer holes give larger pitch up to 12 degree.
  • The lower mixer arm also has 2 holes. The outer holes give larger aileron and elevator throw and hence faster cyclic response. But be very careful to turn the rotor manually while pulling the cyclic sticks (elevator, aileron) to 4 corners to see any binding. If you use the outer washout arm holes, it is prone to hit the other washout arms' swashplate connector. If you use the inner holes, it is prone to hit the upper washout guide 's screw. So careful reduce the swashplate mixing ratio (on transmitter) is necessary.
